We’ve just received our latest job hot off the press, Lecico annual report and accounts 2014. The cover was printed using silver metallic ink and foil blocked on Stardream Lapislazuli FSC certified paper, a lovely petroleum blue colour with a silver metallic effect. This produced a subtle and elegant annual report cover with a big impact.
Foil blocking the outline of the Lecico logo made the brand stand out without being too fussy. The rows of sanitary ware illustrations printed in silver are reminiscent of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, which reflect the origin and history of the Egyptian company.
Foil blocking is a printing process in which metallic foil, more often gold or silver, is applied to paper. Foil blocking machines use heat to transfer metallic foil to a solid surface.
Common objects that are foil blocked are pencils, invitations, napkins, matchbooks, photographs and books. It could also be combined with embossing to create a more striking 3D effect.
When done right foil blocking could mean the difference between a good job and a bad one. On this job we are very pleased with the results.
